ALS

Your voice, your way

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) gradually weakens the muscles used for speaking, and some people also notice changes in thinking, language or behavior. We help people communicate in their own words and in their own voice.

Everyday strategies
Planning conversations around energy, facing your listener, and using an amplifier when your voice is soft.
Communication devices
Choosing and setting up speech-generating devices or apps, including eye-gaze access.
Low-tech backups
Letter boards and writing for when technology isn’t practical.
Family
Showing the people closest to you how to support conversation.
